John Waters’ Top 10

Filmmaker, orator, and provocateur John Waters has revealed his top 10 films list for 2019 and it provides a unique, eclectic look into the cult hero’s views on modern movies.

In addition to picking new films by established masters [Gaspar Noé (Climax) and Pedro Almodóvar (Pain and Glory)] and rising stars [Bruno Dumont (Joan of Arc) and Joanna Hogg (The Souvenir)], Waters names Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood one of the very best films of the year, calling Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film “a real crowd-pleaser that deserves every bit of its critical and financial success for pulling the rug out from under America’s true-crime obsession and daring to give the Manson murders a feel-good happy ending that manages to be both shocking and terribly funny.” See the full list on Artforum.
