Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood has struck gold overseas, landing at #1 at the box office in 28 foreign markets during its debut over the weekend, topping the writer-director’s previous best international opening by nearly 30%. Powered by a blockbuster $8.9 million bow in the UK and a stellar opening in Russia, the filmmaker’s love letter to Hollywood has now earned $66.2 million overseas with some experts predicting Tarantino’s 9th could match or surpass the global grosses for his biggest blockbuster, Django Unchained. The movie performed particularly well in France ($6.9 million), Germany ($5.6 million), and Australia ($4.4 million) with the film yet to be released in Mexico, Japan, Italy, and South Korea.
