Quentin Tarantino Master Class

The filmmaker at the Lumière Film Festival in Lyon, France

We’ve got exciting news for French film fans! Next week Quentin Tarantino will be sharing his love of the cinema of 1970 with a master class seminar at the Lumière Film Festival.

A few weeks ago we told you about the Lumière Film Festival and its wide-ranging series of retrospectives, tributes, restorations and special guests. Running October 8-16, this year’s festivities in Lyon, France, include a special selection of films, all from 1970, programmed by Quentin Tarantino, as well as tributes to Buster Keaton, Bertrand Tavernier, Gong Li, Walter Hill and more plus other must-see events for a crowd of international cinephiles.

In exciting, late-breaking news, Quentin Tarantino will now be appearing in person to introduce the October 8th opening night gala presentation of one of his favorite westerns, George Roy Hill’s Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. Three year’s after being the festival’s guest of honor, Tarantino will return to talk about the 35mm screening before an audience of 5,000 at the Halle Tony Garnier.

On October 12th Tarantino will join host Thierry Frémaux at the Auditorium of Lyon for a master class discussion focusing on films from 1970 and the director’s specific passions as a moviegoer. This is a rare and exciting chance for fans to hear Tarantino talk candidly about his enthusiasm for watching, and making, the magic of movies. The event will be capped by a screening of Robert Altman’s M * A * S * H. Tickets are expected to sell quickly and go on sale Friday on the Lumière site.
