One of our favorite movie paradises returns to Lyon, France this October with an impressive slate of films, new and old, plus a special selection of films, all from 1970, programmed by Quentin Tarantino.
In its 7 year existence, the Lumière Film Festival has become one of the premier destinations for cinéastes worldwide, with a far-ranging series of retrospectives, tributes, restorations and special guests. In addition to this year’s presentation of the Lumière Award to legendary actress Catherine Deneuve, the festival is celebrating the work of comedian Buster Keaton, pioneering director Dorothy Arzner, Bertrand Tavernier, Gong Li, Walter Hill, Park Chan-wook, Gaspar Noé and many others with an extensive list of screenings and master class lectures. Quentin Tarantino, the 2013 recipient of the Lumière Award, will appear in person to introduce many of his picks for what will surely be a memorable trip to the movies.
